About Wellness

Wellness is a whole-life issue, and involves the mind as much as it does the physical body. In my 15-plus years as a wellness coach and massage therapist, I've seen practices and coaching techniques change and evolve as new methods are tested and old ones are rediscovered. What I've learned as my own body has aged is that true wellness can never be achieved simply by looking great, eating right, or through a weekly massage. A combination of fitness training and nutritional coaching, coupled with a targeted massage therapy plan, is the most effective way to find the healthy lifestyle you're looking for.

Statistics Don't Lie

Obesity rates in the U.S. continue to rise each year. According to a recent study from John Hopkins University, if current trends continue, over 75% of Americans will be overweight by 2015.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention tells us that just five moderate sessions of exercise per week can not only keep our weight down, but also lessen our chances of disease and infection.

Add to this the fact that more and more Americans are stressed out, burned out, and simply overworked, leading to chronic pain and health problems, and rapidly expanding the clientèle of massage therapists across the nation. According to the American Massage Therapy Association, there were over 250,000 registered massage therapists listed in the United States in 2009, and the rate of increase in providers is faster than in any other wellness profession.

What this means for Americans is that a whole body, targeted wellness program is key. By combining the obesity and disease fighting properties of physical exercise and nutrition and marrying them with the stress-reducing function of massage, I'm able to offer an accredited total-body wellness program that gives clients the ability to take control of their own whole health needs.

First Things First

Before we begin your session, we'll discuss what your goals are and what "living life well" means for you. Depending on your specific needs or requests, I will either create a customized program that may include full-body massage (for general relaxation and stress reduction) or focus on other specific parts of your wellness programming.

Benefits of Massage

  • relaxes the body
  • loosens tight muscles
  • relieves tired and aching muscles
  • increases flexibility and range of motion
  • diminishes chronic pain
  • calms the nervous system
  • lowers blood pressure
  • lowers heart rate

Ongoing Relief

While periodic massage can enhance your well being, the real benefit of living well comes from multiple approaches including nutrition and exercise. My goal is to provide lasting support for all my clients, and I'm sure you'll be happy with your results.
